Alright Opponauts your mission should you choose to accept is to help me find a car for my younger bro. Just needs something to get him around for the moment and isn’t a total rust bucket. Unfortunately he isn’t extremely keen on learning how to drive a MT so were looking at AT only.
REQUIREMENTS
Automatic
4 doors
Reliable
If repairs are needed total price of car and repairs around total of $1500
Here’s the link to our local CL.

1999 Maxima. These are good cars. 4 door sports car for the win.

I can vouch that my ‘99 Camry still runs really well at 230k+ miles.

Can't go wrong with a turbocharged wagon...

I was thinking that one too but my dad seems to be stuck on the idea of getting him an Accord of the same vintage. I keep trying to tell him that Accords of that era and in that price we’re looking in all have slipping transmissions.

This is actually a really solid choice.

I like this actually. Can never go wrong with a wagon. I have an SL2 sedan but if I could’ve found a wagon for as cheap as I got my car I would have been all over it.

Super utilitarian and probably a lot of life left in it. This would be a great sensible first car.
If you’re into “sensibility,” that is ;)

Or this 626, priced $100 over but I assume you could get that down.

I think so too. My I30, which is a 2000, is essentially the same as a Maxima. The engine is virtually the same, and at 170k miles, there’s still a lot of life left in that VQ30 motor. Mine has 252k on it now and still runs really well. They are definitely reliable, and there is a ton of online support for these cars as well. I think the A32 Maxima is actually one of the best looking ones that Nissan has made. And they’re pretty fun to drive, plus they will absolutely get up and go.
